Do some US military people use pocket knives for anything?

I didnt know if they maybe used pocket knives. I have a parker knife and it looks like a tool knife. I hope not. Do you know how to tell the difference from hunting/ combat knife or a tool knife. The plate is like 6-7 nches and the handle has a curve like the blade. Would the rmy use this. PS it is made in the USA

  1. Yes some do use them for anything.
  2. Did you know you have asked this question under "government and politics?" I haven't checked, but there could be a better place for this question, maybe "hobbies"? But,most military do not use pocket knives "for everything". For one thing, these may be considered as a weapon, and get you can get arrested in some places, not just on airplanes, but on military posts for carrying a knife. Military types train with weapons, but aren't allowed to carry them, just anywhere. They are kept under lock and key, except when going into combat, or training.
  3. it is not only a army knife, but it is used to defend frm attackers in life-risking danger.this 6-7 inches is sufficient to cut open attacker's throat don get scared, i used it once, wen i was in millitary training
  4. A lot of military members will carry a multi-tool such as a Gerber. I only carry a knife when I'm wearing my survival vest in flight.
  5. Yes. Many military people carry and use pocket knives of various descriptions for various reasons. I have, and always will carry one(except on civilian air lines) A knife is just a tool.
  6. i'm a country boy and have carried a knife since about 8 years old. i got it for christmas one year and once i was cleared with dad and the cub scouts i've had one since. i use my knife for everything. i feel lost without it. knives to me are one of the best creations ever, funny thing is my one real fear is being cut..
  7. Very often people in specialized occupations, such as electricians, would carry specialized tools including pocket-knifes. In the rating I was in we were expected to select a suitable pocket-knife on our own and carry it with at all times we were working, except when in the Uniform Of the Day. A local surplus store might be a good source of information.
