What is the best way to clean up old pocket knives?
I have some old pocket knives that were past down to me. Some have rust spots and dark spots on them. I want to know how to clean them up with out hurting them. I dont just want to take a wire brush to them. Thank you for any help.

- Wipe them liberaly or soak the blades in Kroil.
- do you have some gun cleaning liquids and oils? they may work nicely
- For the metal blades - if rusty/dirty, get a machinist's brass brush - it looks like a big toothbrush. That and a good oil will get you started. How you fix up the scales/grips depends on what material they're made from.
- I bought a knife sharpening kit several years ago that came with metal polish. It worked pretty good, but took a lot of rubbing. You can find metal polish on most sites that sell gun related items.
